Son In Bak Kut Teh, Jalan Ipoh

We had a sudden cravings for bak kut teh for dinner, but there are not man options available for Bak Kut Teh at night. It's usually served for breakfast and lunch.

Drove all the way to Jalan Ipoh where there is a Bak Kut Teh stall that is open for dinner. Restoran Son In Bak Kut Teh is located at Jalan Ipoh (next to Ambank).

We ordered the pork meat with pork belly, "tau fu pok" and  vegetables. The oily rice has a good fragrant smell to it.

Bone & Pot (有骨气) Steamboat, Damansara Uptown

Steamboat restaurants are mushrooming around Klang Valley. These restaurants offer either  buffet style, set packages or you just order the items that you wish.

The Bone & Pot 有骨气 that I went to in Damansara Uptown is one that allows you to order only the items that I want to have. The restaurant is pretty cozy and they are made up of 2 floors.

They offer a variety of soup base. We selected the Signature Pork Bone Broth and Tomato with Potato Broth. The Tomato with Potato Broth is served with a generous amount of tomatoes.

There is also several choices of sauces and dippings to go with. Can't resist trying all.

Breakfast at The Carpenter's Daughter Artisan Bakery & Cafe, Subang

Wanted to start the day with healthy and fantastic breakfast. Decided to head to The Carpenter's Daughter. I have been hearing about it but have not tried it. So, why not today?

The place is nicely decorated. It's a combination of a bakery and cafe. The decor is unique and comfortable. Makes you want to stay longer.

I tried the breakfast Set C. Portion is generous and served with homemade jam. A great way to start the day!

Makan trip to Ipoh

Day: National Day (31st Aug 06)
Destination: Foh San Restaurant, Ipoh
Objective: Makan (Eating) Trip

It's 7.30 am. Talk about the early bird catches the worm. But worm is not the objective... hehe.. It's Dim Sum... in Ipoh. It takes about 2 hours to reach the destination. Real glad that the traffic was real smooth. Guess everyone is still zzz-ing from partying last night.

Reached the destination around 10am and it's packed with people.

Outside the restaurant

There's literally someone standing next to every tables there waiting for the occupants to finish eating so that they can take over the table. That's STRESSful!!

The crowd... the wait...

Lucky stars must be on our side as we managed to get a table quite fast :) and able to start our feast...

Varieties of Dim Sum

Fresh shrimp covered with fish paste

Dim Sum with salted egg yolk

Champagne pork ribs

"Ham Sui Kok"

Fish ball with century egg

Special tau-fu (bean curd) dim sum

From Foh San Restaurant, we side tracked and detour to savour some other delicacies that can be found in Ipoh like this tau-fu-far not far away from the restaurant.

Tau-fu-far with cincau.. yummy..

And not forgetting OldTown white coffee (though I ended up with Ice lemon tea..sigh!!) ...

Ipoh white coffee

Yummy food at Food Foundry, Section 17

Went to have lunch with a friend at Food Foundry in Section 17, Petaling Jaya. We had the famous Mille Crepe Cake, made up of fresh cream and crepe. Extremely yummy. Had to wait for more than 2 weeks before they re-introduce the cake back to the menu as they are trying to meet the reservation orders for this cake. First thing we did was order this cake before we even warmed up our seats. By 12.30 pm, the cakes were gone from the display counter. Talk about selling like HOT CAKES !!

Another interesting item is the Kerabu Mixed Seafood. An interesting blend of lemon grass with small green chillis (cili padi) with prawns and squid. Something worth trying if you do not mind the spiciness.

The price of food is quite reasonable. The parking is quite easy to find too.. but expect crowds during lunch hour.. Bon Appétit !!
